Khalel Dosmukhamedov is a leader of Alash movement, doctor, teacher, scientist.

Khalel Dosmukhamedov was born in 1883 in the Toi-Sogan area Kyzyl-Koginsky district of Atyrau region. He graduated from the Ural military real school in 1902. After a year he entered the St. Petersburg Imperial military medical Academy. In 1905, on the Congress of delegates from five areas in Ural he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Kazakh constitutional the democratic party. In 1909, after graduation, he served as a Junior military physician, first in the Perm province, then in the 1st Turkestan, 2nd  Ural Kazakh-Russian infantry battalion. In 1913 he was exempted from military service and worked as a doctor in Temir district of the Ural region. In 1913-1918 years in the newspaper “Kazakh” he published the article “Tamyr dari khakhynda”, “Sary kezik suzek”, “Zhukpaly auru khakhynda”. In his book “How to fight the scourge among the Kyrgyz people” (1916) he describes the methods of combating plague.

On the 1st all-Kazakh Congress Dosmukhamedov was nominated as a Deputy in the national Constituent Assembly. He was elected as a member of the Alashorda government . In March 1918, he participated in negotiations with V. I. Lenin and I. V. Stalin, during which issues of Kazakh autonomy were discussed. In 1920 he began to work in Tashkent first a member, then a chairman of the Commission of education under the people’s Commissariat of enlightenment of the Republic of Turkestan. In 1922 – 1924 he was a member of the Board of the Turkestan people’s Commissariat of health and was in charge of the medical-sanitary Department.

In 1925 – 1926 years he was in charge of the Oriental Department; in 1926 he was a member of the Board of the Kazakh state publishing house and Deputy head. Dosmukhamedov has made a significant contribution to the development of domestic science, has created scientific works and textbooks. In 1929 was approved by the Professor, then rector of the Kazakh pedagogical Institute, now KazNPU named after Abai. 15 Sep 1930 was arrested 5 years exiled to Voronezh. July 26, 1938, arrested again on false political charges. On 24 April 1939, sentenced to death. Died in prison hospital of Almaty. Rehabilitated on 11 February 1958, posthumously.
