Alpysbay’s father is Kalmen, his mother is Miya. Alpysbay’s first wife, Kusni Alaguatova, was a Bashkir from a noble family. Kusni gave birth for six sons: Nurmukhanbet (Nurasha), Abdulhamit (Khamash), Atlash, Myrzash, Myrzgulzhan, Bizhan and a daughter Rakhila.

Nurmukhamed (Nurash) worked as an accountant and also translated from Latin into Kazakh and Russian.
Abdulhamit (Khamash) is a doctor. Veteran of the Great Patriotic War. His son is Annette Abdulhamituly, a doctor of technical sciences. He graduated from the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys and is an honorary professor of this institute. Askar Abdulhamitovich Kalmenov worked as an aircraft designer at the Baikonur and Plisetsk cosmodromes.
Atlash Alpysbayuly Kalmenov is a famous financier. Atlash graduated from the Moscow Planning Academy and became a financier-economist. He held the position of the local People’s Commissar (Minister) of Industry of Kazakhstan. Atlash Alpysbaevich’s wife, Gulbarshyn Zhakievna Kalmenova, was a needlewoman. She embroidered with gold threads. During her years in the prison, she knitted warm socks for the front-line soldiers.
Atlash Alpysbayuly had a son and two daughters. Rosa and Zhanna were born in Kyzylorda. Atlash’s son Mukhamedzhan was a prospector, geologist, and engineer. He discovered bauxite ore near the city of Arkalyk and developed a twenty-year program for its development. His work, which substantiated the need to build an aluminum plant in Pavlodar, was highly appreciated; he was awarded the USSR State Prize and the title of “Honored Geologist of Kazakhstan”. Later, Mukhamedzhan Kalmenov transferred to the Department of Non-Ferrous Metals of the Ministry of Geology of the Kazakh SSR and headed this team until the end of his life. And his daughter Zhanna devoted her life to medicine. Daughter Irina Mukametzhanovna is a candidate of medical sciences.
Alpysbay’s son, Myrzash, graduated from the Moscow Institute in 1933 as a mining engineer and was sent to the Far East. During production work, a rock fell on him and he died.
Myrzagulzhan is a philologist and veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
Alpysbay’s son Bizhan also participated in the Great Patriotic War. For his courage he was awarded the Order of the Red Star. After the war he was appointed to the post of Deputy Minister of Light Industry.
Alpysbay’s second wife, Sarzhan, gave birth to children Smagul, Zhusup, and Bibikhatsha (whom he affectionately called Tapta). Smagul and Zhusup fought in the Great Patriotic War and died heroically in the battles for the Dnieper. And Bibikhatsha was repressed and spent eight years in exile.

Thus, Alpysbay Kalmenov had only 10 children from two wives. Other representatives of the Kalmenov dynasty were educated in major Russian educational institutions. The descendants of this dynasty were persecuted and exiled for many years.
